Swingsetters Live at Ragazzi

There’s one thing you should know about the Swingsetters – you can try all you like but there’s absolutely no way that you can keep yourself from dancing once they start to play! If you’ve yet to see this seven-piece band in action then you’ll want to dust off those dancing shoes, maybe even do a few stretches, and get yourself to Ragazzi on Saturday night. They’ll be kicking off at 10pm and we caught wind that drummer, Dave Bryant, will be celebrating his birthday on the night – so, there’s no doubt they’ll be on top form.

Here’s a little taste of what you can expect from this awesome band.

Forest in Focus

We all know exactly what Sunday nights are best for…watching a good movie. But what if watching a good movie on a Sunday night meant that you were helping Green Pop with their Trees for Zambia mission? How great would that be?

If you go to the Labia on Sunday you can find out for yourself at Forest in Focus. This event is dedicated to raising awareness about the state of our forests and includes a selection of short films, musical acts and guest speakers. Tickets are R50 per person and if you can’t make it on Sunday then you are in luck because the event will also take place on Tuesday.

As far as spreading the word goes, Green Pop is encouraging all those who attend the event to bring along a USB so that they can load the evening’s program onto it, which will allow them to host their own mini screenings to further raise awareness. Let’s get behind these guys and the awesome work that they are doing!

This month we’re getting our art fix at Culture, an urban and contemporary gallery, found at the Woodstock Exchange. The gallery’s latest exhibition entitled ‘Pretend Pretend’ opened last night and features the cartoon visual styled work of Frank van Reenen. The exhibition runs until the 6th of July.
