Whether it’s in a Die Antwoord music video or on an episode of Top Billing, Simba Mhere is someone you want to watch! Simba made his debut on Top Billing in 2010 when he was selected as the winner of the Top Billing Presenter Search. Since then he has traveled to various parts of the globe and we’ll admit we’re a little jealous, but nevertheless a huge fan of this handsome and charming man. And he’s a big fan of Old Khaki, too!
We had a few questions for Simba and this is what he had to say…
Something most people don’t know about me…. I used to be a very fast sprinter. I ran for the University of Johannesburg and my fastest time was 10.2s for the 100m sprint.
A local band/musician I’m listening to…I am loving Mi Casa right now. I didn’t know they were local for a long time. It just goes to show how much music in SA is growing.
When I was growing up I wanted to be …I wanted to be the fastest man in the world. I wanted to go to the Olympics.
The strangest nickname I’ve ever had…I don’t think any nickname has been strange because of my name. Simba seemed good enough for everyone.
The wardrobe I’d most like to steal belongs to…LA Reid X Factor USA Judge. He has great style. Maybe one day when I grow up I can dress like him.
The one item of clothing I couldn’t live without…Jeans because they just go with everything. You can make it look formal or you can dress it down with anything.
Someone I really admire…Will Smith. I am inspired by where he has come from to where he is now. He came from humble begginings to being one of the biggest stars in the world.
The most interesting place I’ve traveled to…The most interesting place I’ve ever been to would have to be France. In 2011 I had the chance to travel all over France from Paris all the way to the Cognac region. We got to stay at the Hennessy chateau (Chateau Bagnolet). We learnt everything about Hennessy from Mr Hennessy himself. When we left he gave me a signed bottle of Hennessy XO.
My most awkward moment on the job…I was late to get to a shoot and I had to rush and once I got on set I realised that I had two different shoes on. EPIC fail
My idea of Unrestricted Living is…To travel to the most interesting places in the world at the drop of a hat and without a budget. Travelling is great but it also makes you realise what a great country SA is.
